Tell us your restaurant story for #OhioWorksHere

By Natalie Walston posted 09-21-2016 10:19

We need your help to tell the story of the restaurant industry in Ohio.

Why? When there's a news story about minimum wage, the first industry that gets singled out is the restaurant industry. I've read remarks such as "unfair labor practices in restaurants" and "wage theft" by foodservice operators.

Doesn't this make you mad? Turn that anger into action and let's get your positive stories out there.

From the people I talk to, the reason they get into the industry is varied, but people who've made it their careers love the flexible hours and being in control of making more money through excellent customer service! Furthermore, most of our part-time, quick service restaurant jobs are starter jobs for teenagers. That's where they learn the ins-and-outs of how to behave in the workplace. It's the training ground for the work force.

Restaurant workers, owners and operators are the glue that holds this network together, and we’re proud to have them in our family. From first jobs to fresh starts to life-long careers, restaurants provide opportunity to thousands of Ohioans each and every day … and millions of Americans.

Please let me know your restaurant success story so I can feature you on our Ohio Restaurant Assocation website here: http://www.ohiorestaurant.org/ohioworkshere.html

Here's what I need:

1. Your name & where you work and your current title

2. First job in the industry. Think way back, depending on your age!

3. What you love about the industry.

Email it to me at nwalston@ohiorestaurant.org. Also, I need a good, clear picture of you if I'm going to feature you on our website.

Thank you in advance!
